The gardening "bug" has touched our local residents of all ages. "Scio Goes
Green - To Plant a Garden is to Believe in Tomorrow" is an opportunity to
celebrate and display our natural resources as an art form. Join us for a
weekend of beauty, creative design, competition and fun.

The judging of the events/categories will be done by local
gardening/nursery professionals.
Each division should model their entry on the 2008 theme, "We've Got Ewe
Covered", and include a "title" for the entry. Entries will be judged upon,
use of materials, including natural and recycled, theme, originality, as
well as the actual specimen. |

Entry Information:
Bring entries to the Scio High School Cafeteria between 8:00
- 10:00 am on Saturday 5/17,2008
The Flower Show will be closed for judging at 10:00 am. No late entries
will be accepted.
Entries should be picked up on Sunday between 4:00 - 5:00 pm.
Ribbons will be given for 1st - 3rd place by class.
Ribbons for Best Division, Best of Show and People Choice will also be
awarded. In addition prizes, contributed by local businesses will also
be awarded.
Peoples Choice Award - All visitors will cast their vote for their
favorite entry. Each vote will be cast with a $.25 vote fee. All of the
money will be given to the "Peoples Choice" winner.
2008 Flower Show Competitive Categories
Division I: Creative Expressions
Class 1: Ages 6 and below. using a large paper
plate as the base, create a picture using dried and natural materials. Materials
may include, but not limited to flowers, grasses, seeds, leaves, mosses, etc.
Class 2: Ages 7-11 Using natures oddities, such as driftwood, branches
and natural material create a tablescape. The size should be limited to 9 x 13
inches.
Class 3: Ages 12-15 Birdhouses. Birdhouses should be constructed by
competitor and decorated with live or dried materials.
Division II: Arrangements (All
ages)
Class 1: Table arrangement with a 360° view point
Class 2: Door swag or wreath
Class 3: Ceremonial basket/display with a front view only
Division III: Cut Flowers
Entries must
be presented in a clear, uncolored glass container. Each should include one
stem, leaf and flower specimen.
Class 1: Azalea
Class 2: Calla lily
Class 3: Columbine
Class 4: Iris
A: Bearded
B: Other
Class 5: Lilac
Class 6: Peony
Class 7: Poppy
Class 8: Rhododendron
Class 9: Roses (one entry per category)
A: Hybrid tea
B: Floribunda/climbing
C: Old Fashioned
D: Miniature
